F.A.Q faq

Below are some common questions

How strong is Password Sentinel’s encryption?

We use military-grade 256-bit AES encryption, which is the same standard used by banks and governments. This level of encryption would take decades or longer to crack, even with today’s most powerful computers.

Can Password Sentinel employees see my passwords?

No, absolutely not. Password Sentinel uses zero-knowledge encryption, which means our team members cannot see any of your secrets – not your passwords, websites, or even your master password. Everything is encrypted before it reaches our servers.

What happens if someone intercepts my data?

Your data is protected by end-to-end encryption, meaning it’s scrambled into unreadable code before leaving your device. Even if someone intercepts it during transmission or steals it from our servers, they can’t read any of your information.

Is my master password stored anywhere?

No, your master password is never stored on our servers or transmitted over the internet. This is like keeping the key to your safe in a completely different location – it adds an extra layer of security by keeping your password and your encrypted data separate.

What makes Password Sentinel’s security different from other password managers?

Password Sentinel encrypts everything on your device before sending it anywhere, including details like website URLs that some other password managers leave unencrypted. We also use proven security methods that have been thoroughly tested by cybersecurity experts.

How are my encryption keys generated?

All encryption keys are created using cryptographically secure random number generators – the same type used by security professionals. This ensures your keys are truly random and unpredictable.

What if I have a weak master password?

Password Sentinel uses advanced password strengthening techniques (PBKDF2 with SHA-512) that make it much harder for attackers to guess your password through repeated attempts, even if your password isn’t perfect. However, we still recommend using a strong, unique master password for the best protection.

What can I do to keep my account safe?

Password Sentinel already has strong built-in protections, but you can make your account even more secure by taking care of your account password:
● Create a strong, unique password: Your account password is the key to all your data, so make it count. Use a long, complex password that you don’t use anywhere else.
● Never reuse your account password: If you use the same password on other websites and one of those sites gets hacked, criminals might try using that password on your Password Sentinel account. Keep your account password exclusive to Password Sentinel.
● Keep it completely private: Don’t share your account password with anyone – not friends, family, or coworkers. Remember, Password Sentinel support will never ask for your password. If someone claiming to be from our team asks for it, it’s a scam.

How do I export my data?

Your data is yours and yours only. You may export it using the mobile app:

  1. Log into your account from the mobile app.
  2. Browse to the Settings tab.
  3. Click on “Export Secrets” and follow the prompts.
